A little Americana

Sometimes, with no prior knowledge, things come together to create a great shot. This is one of those shots.

I spent this day railfanning the former Monongahela Railway coal region of Southwestern Pennsylvania. This being 5 and 1/2 years ago, I dont know what brought me down here. It may of been my first time scouting out the "Waynesburg Southern" of the former MGA or I had a tip on this local. I think it was the first, making this shot even all the more interesting.

I go down, 20 miles out of my way, looking for trains and...oppp....found one! A 3 day a week local coming out of the closed Blacksville #1 mine with empty potash cars. I manage to just come onto this scene. So I set up to shot the local going past a old rundown Chevy and small tractor store.

I would return a few years later, the car was gone of course, but the shop had also closed. Time marches on.
