Caution!! Big file.

A gathering of all 20 of Norfolk Southern's brand new heritage fleet.

From left to right.
Norfolk and Western
Nickle Plate Road
Virginian
Wabash
Illinois Terminal
Pennsylvania Railroad
New York Central
Penn Central
Erie
Lackawanna
Central of New Jersey (hidden)
Reading Lines
Lehigh Valley
Monongahela Railway

Southern Railway

Sitting on the turntable is NS1030, note the number boards.

This was a very cool, historic, and foamy even with over 4,000 that came to see the engines. Thanks goes to Norfolk Southern and Andy Fletcher for making this happen.

This is a photo merge of 8 pictures.

Did you ever notice that the engines are arranged in order by merger? The Direct NS predecessors are both to the left and right of the NS centerpiece with the Conrail unit sitting behind it. The to the left or right of those engines are the predecessors of those railroads. Even the PRR and NYC engines come after the PC unit and the Erie and Lackawanna engines are right next to each other hinting at the Erie Lackawanna railroad heritage.

You can actually see a tiny bit of the 1071's cab through 1030's right window (our left).

To sayb that this is an awsome pict is a real understatement. Too bad that I no longer live in Norfolk. It would have been soooo cool too see some of these locos running about. I would especially love to see the Pennsy and NYC trains. I love that Tuscan Red on the Pennsy's. Although the NYC should have been gray, not black. Still beautiful though. To 13rotherwolf, No, there is no chance of seeing these engines in WA. However, I bet you will see BNSF or UP doing something like this in the near future. This has got to be a real PR boost for the NS, and the other Class I's will most likely be doing something similar very soon. If not, perhaps we should start a letter-writing campaign to BNSF and UP (and maybe even CSX) asking them to do the same thing. My great-Grandfather was a engineer for the Northern Pacific, and I would love to see a heritage unit in green with the red & black Ying/yang on the nose.

Absolutely stunning! I've only seen 8103 so far... gorgeous unit that well represents N&W history. :) Hoping to see 8100 when she comes through with the 765 next month as well. Sure wish I could have seen them all together like this, though!

Love the Central of Georgia... reminds me of the winged UP shield. Think any of these will ever come to Northwest Washington? ;)

Regardless, very nicely done and I will probably buy a print of this , but might be moving so, will have too wait till after that

Okay, cool!

I heard that NS does not want these engines going west or on another railroads rails!

Though I have to wonder if this will work cause in the print shop it only shows the middle loco and about 1 1/2 locos on each side... not too mention I would like a bigger print

That I am interested in possibly having to get this done as a couple pics.

Think you said its a combo of 8 right?

Would it be possible to get those 8 shots as individual prints? Or something I dunno how DA would print this with it being this long.
